Ritual

The Ritual Committee of Temple Beth Abraham is founded on the belief that communal prayer is an integral and beautiful part of Jewish life.  The committee is composed of members with an interest in studying, promoting and invigorating all aspects of worship at TBA.  They work closely with the Clergy to enrich our traditional services and to create innovative new programming to ensure that worship at TBA is meaningful and accessible to all.

In recent years, the committee worked to bring new prayer books and new music to the congregation. They have added live theater and discussion to our Selichot services, held outdoor Shabbat services led by congregants, and added lay Torah readers during Rosh Hashanah.  They facilitate the addition of new and exciting opportunities for study, worship and participation in the years to come.

The Ritual Committee is also responsible for advising the Clergy and the Board of Trustees on matters of ritual policy. In recent years they have addressed questions of how Shabbat is to be observed and reexamined our Kosher policy.

The Ritual Committee welcomes members with all levels of prior Jewish knowledge to join us in learning about, guiding and enhancing the spiritual life at TBA.

Co chairs of the Ritual Committee are Steven Haber and Sharon Kirschner.  They may be reached at: ritual@tba-ny.org
