A Reform and Conservative Synagogue Serving the Rivertowns
This month’s discussion: Shelley Greenspan: “Holocaust Remembrance: The Second Generation Tells the Story”
“My parents’ horrific experiences during the Holocaust had a big impact on my upbringing. Teaching their stories to High School students has raised many questions. Can we use the lessons of the Holocaust to teach our youth that all people should be treated with dignity and respect no matter our differences? What challenges do we face in conveying these lessons ? How is it different now that many survivors are no longer alive to tell their powerful stories?”
Shelley Greenspan is a frequently invited speaker in local schools where her family’s experience in the Holocaust is a springboard for discussions about ethics, antisemitism, and the power of words.
Bring a bag supper to enjoy after Women’s Circle and before Shabbat Services.
