A Reform and Conservative Synagogue Serving the Rivertowns
The 7th, 8th, 9th,10th, 11th or 12th grade will be having their own guest speaker, Ralph Berger. In this more intimate setting, it is hoped that our high schoolers will feel free to ask questions and participate in a discussion.
Ralph is the editor of With Courage Shall We Fight, a book that tells the incredible story of survival of his parents, Murray “Motke” Berger, one of the original members of the Bielski Brigade (depicted in the movie “Defiance”), and Frances “Fruma” Berger, the first woman in the Brigade to be issued a weapon. Miraculously, they escaped from the Nazis and certain death and literally fought back, saving not only their own lives but those of others as well.
The 7th-12th grade students are encouraged to bring a friend from outside TBA to hear this speaker. The friend can be Jewish or not-Jewish. The only criteria is that their willingness to bear witness to this incredible story of survival. Parents are also encouraged to attend.
Everyone is welcome to join us for a pizza and salad dinner at 6:15PM and the program will begin at 6:45PM. Please just give the office a quick call at 631-1770 x10 and let us know how many are coming so that we can be sure to have enough food.
