Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  • What if we miss a class?
We know life happens! If your child is absent, we’ll follow up with any important updates or make-up work. Regular attendance is important to your child’s experience and to our community learning model—but we’re flexible and here to support you every step of the way.
  • How do we choose a B-Mitzvah date?
Families begin the process during our 4th Grade Family Education and Date Meeting, typically held in November of the 4th grade year. At that time, you’ll receive access to a calendar of available dates and begin working with our clergy and staff to select a date that fits your family’s needs. We walk with you every step of the way to make the experience meaningful and stress-free.
  • What happens during Hebrew sessions?
Our Hebrew program focuses on reading, decoding, prayer fluency, meaning, and confidence. Learners work in small groups or one-on-one with a teacher or teen tutor. Sessions are fun, engaging, and tailored to your child’s pace and learning style.
  • Is there homework?
Yes—for Hebrew 4th grade and up, as students begin preparing for their B-Mitzvah journeys. Homework is designed to reinforce Hebrew reading and classroom learning. For younger grades, we do not assign traditional homework, but may send home creative projects that connect with what we’re learning in class.
  • Can my child learn Hebrew virtually?
Absolutely! We offer both in-person and virtual Hebrew options for 4th and 5th grade students. Some families choose weekly Zoom sessions for added flexibility, and we work hard to ensure the experience is just as personal, engaging, and effective as our in-person model.

You’ll find all of this (and more!) in our Handbooks. We’re always here to help—reach out anytime with questions!
