A Reform and Conservative Synagogue Serving the Rivertowns
Our powerful and moving Yom HaShoah service will feature a presentation by Abraham (Abe) Foxman. Abraham Foxman was the National Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Ð a position he held for nearly 30 years. Abe is a Holocaust survivor and world-renowned leader in the fight against antisemitism, bigotry and discrimination. He is the co-author of Viral Hate: Containing Its Spread on the Internet and author of Jews & Money: The Story of a Stereotype, The Deadliest Lies: The Israel Lobby and the Myth of Jewish Control and Never Again? The Threat of the New Anti-Semitism. Abe survived the Holocaust because he was given a false identity. In 1941, when ordered into a ghetto, his parents left him with his Polish Catholic nanny, Bronislawa Kurpi. He was baptized as Henryk Stanislaw Kurpi and raised as a Catholic in Vilnius until 1944, when he was reunited with his parents. Abe now serves on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
