Dr. George Keteku: African Judaism, a brunch and lecture

April 7, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Israel Committee presents brunch with Professor George Keteku.

There are tribes and social groups in several African countries that make claims to their Jewish roots and have formed Jewish communities. Scholars have different explanations as to whether their claims are true or false.  Dr. George Keteku will be speaking about these African Judaism Movements.  His talk is comprehensive and touches on the position of Israel’s Chief Rabbinate.

Dr. Keteku previously spoke at TBA (in 2016 about the relationship between Ghana and Israel).

Dr. George Keteku teaches Political Science at Westchester Community College, is an adjunct Professor at SUNY Purchase, and is active in many professional societies, including the Association for the Study of Middle East and Africa (ASMEA) , the African Studies Association (ASU) and the American Political Science Association.
